A lot of people ask me how to stay motivated and stay focused when you feel discouraged, and I thought in this blog post I would highlight the topic of MOTIVATION with the hope that it might inspire and catch you readers who are interested.

Motivation is something that many people think will just fall upon them one day. Maybe you repeat that you will wait until a Monday before you get to grips with "your new life" or maybe it is during the holidays that you think that everything will calm down and that you should definitely start with what you now want to devote yourself to and strive for after?

The fact is that motivation is not something that just comes to you - motivation is something you get from achieving results and from performing. Motivation is something you yourself need to work actively with in part by manifesting, staying focused and rewarding yourself when you succeed in performing.

Regardless of what your goals are with training, diet or life in general, it is important that you specify exactly WHAT your goals are, HOW you will achieve them and WHEN - that is, in what time you will achieve the goals.

Your goals never need to be set in stone, but can of course be revised during the journey - I myself primarily wanted to lose weight only to be able to run again after children, birth injuries and about 35 kilos of excess weight, but halfway through the journey I realized that I also wanted to on building a (for me) nice back and I therefore had to revise my plans.

If your goal, for example, is that you want to be healthier or get stronger, break the goal down into WHAT it means to you. What does being healthy mean to you? What does being strong mean to you? By clearly knowing what your goals are, it is easier to achieve them and by achieving them you stay motivated, which in turn means that you continue to stay focused during the journey.

And of course not every day is simple or a bed of roses. Even those who never seem to encounter a single obstacle have days when things go worse, and those are the days when it is especially important to stick to the plan and do the work. Perhaps you have heard the expression "Consistency is key"? which not only sounds like a catchy slogan any gym chain has come up with, but is actually one hundred percent true.

Another success factor I want to highlight regarding motivation and keeping motivation is that it is important to reward yourself. In addition to your goal, also have sub-goals and decide how you will celebrate these sub-goals and achievements.

For example, I usually treat myself to a pair of earrings or new training clothes when I take the PB at the gym, which both makes me happy in the moment when I've managed to perform but also reminds me of the hard work I've put in when the earrings or clothes are used.

Other things that help you stay motivated can be encouragement/support/companionship from friends or perhaps support from others on SoMe who may also share the same goals and dreams as you.

No matter what your goals are and no matter if you're on day 1, day 10, day 500 or haven't even started your journey. Just get started, do it now, right now in this moment. There is no need to wait - life happens anyway with all its up's and down's - treat yourself to what you want, there is no one else who will serve your results for you; JUST DO IT! 🫶🏻
